Songfacts®:

  • Here, Lil Baby gets caught up in his passion for a girl who is involved with another man. Baby hasn't seen the girl for three months, but now that the rapper is in her city, he wants to hook up. The girl is hot on Baby too, but cools when her boyfriend "gets back in the picture." Baby wants to discuss their future together because he is thoroughly smitten and will take on whatever role she wants. However, Baby admits he "ain't trippin" on sharing.
  • It's not clear why Lil Baby named the song "Forever" as the title doesn't appear in the lyrics. Moreover, he previously included another track named "Forever" on his 2020 album My Turn.
  • Baby took the chorus from the hook of Vory and Fridayy's unreleased song "Forever" (which again doesn't include the title in the lyrics). For that reason, Fridayy, whose voice we hear, is listed as a featured artist.

Francis "Fridayy" Leblanc is a Philadelphia-based singer-producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He's best known for crooning the chorus on DJ Khaled's 2022 track, "God Did."

"I made the hook and Vory had posted it on Instagram, and it went viral," Fridayy told Clash. "It was all over Instagram, SoundCloud and YouTube. Lil Baby heard it on Instagram and said he needed it on his album and Vory just let him have it!"
  • "Forever" interpolates "God Did" and Drake's "Chicago Freestyle."
  • Vory gets a songwriting credit and Fridayy a production credit deriving from their original "Forever" track. Bizness Boi and Fortune are also listed as producers.
  • When Vory posted his "Forever" song on Instagram, Lil Baby heard it and asked for the name of the hook singer because he wanted it for his song. "That's how it came about," Fridayy told Billboard. "Vory showed love and helped me out on that part."

Fridayy's production for Vory's "Forever" was just piano, but Baby wanted a proper beat so the Philly singer/producer told him he'd add some instrumentation and send it back to him that night. "He kinda explained it to me how he wanted it, when it was like, a kick and a snare - just some simple vibes, not too much hi-hats," Fridayy recalled to Billboard.

With the help of production partners Bizness Boi and Fortune, they did what Baby wanted with their first try.
