Songfacts®:

  • This feel-good tale of carefree summer love features a couple of energetic verses by Macklemore.

Sundress with you on my arm
Take the coupe out the garage
Pull the roof back, just me, you, and the stars.

Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy croons the chorus in a high falsetto.

I got this feeling on a summer day
Knew it when I saw her face
I just thought that she could be the one
  • The single was released on April 25, 2019. It marked Martin Garrix's first time working with both Macklemore and Patrick Stump. He said he recorded the song "to help get you into that summer state of mind."
  • According to Macklemore, he had been talking with Garrix about collaborating for some time and waiting for the right record. When the Dutch DJ sent him the demo for "Summer Days," the rapper knew it was the one. After Patrick Stump was added to the hook, it "just made it that much better."
  • The song was a worldwide hit, reaching the Top 10 in several countries, including Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland and Slovakia.
