Songfacts®:

  • "Me On Your Mind" is a piano ballad that offers an uplifting reminder of God's constant love and attention toward each of us. Matthew West invites listeners into a deeper reflection on their relationship with the Lord, reminding us that we are seen, known, and cherished by our Creator.
  • During a quiet walk with his wife, the familiar biblical stories of the thief on the cross and the prodigal son took on new meaning for West. These figures, whose lives reflect the profound mercy and grace of God, resonated with him in a deeply personal way. Seeing parts of himself in both, he was inspired to craft the song during the pandemic alongside singer-songwriter Anne Wilson and producer Jeff Pardo.
  • The trio crafted "Me On Your Mind" around the life-changing sacrifice of Jesus, drawing from the awe-inspiring truth of Psalm 8:

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place. What is mankind that You are mindful of them, human beings that You care for them?

Through the writing process, God brought West into a deeper understanding of His own heart as a Heavenly Father. "It's the sheer amazement that the Creator of the universe, the King of the world, would have a single thought about me, that touches my heart on the deepest level," said the singer.
  • This collaboration was not their first. West, Wilson and Pardo had previously worked together on "My Jesus," which became a #1 song for Wilson on the Billboard Christian charts when released in 2021.

The trio have co-written multiple other songs together, including tracks for Wilson's debut album Rebel.
  • The song became West's sixth #1 hit on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart, and his first chart-topper since "Hello, My Name Is" in 2013.
