Songfacts®:

  • Metal Allegiance is a metal supergroup founded by bassist and musical instruments industry executive Mark Menghi with Testament's Alex Skolnick, Megadeth's Dave Ellefson, and the Winery Dogs' Mike Portney. This song also features Death Angel's Mark Osegueda and Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia on vocals.
  • Skolnick explained the song's meaning to Billboard magazine: "The lyrics are a lament on modern times, with the male voice representing an honest person at wits end, scarred by all the falseness and deception he's encountered in life and dismayed at the negative impact of human behavior on a global scale," he explained. "He's balanced by the female voice - she appears as a soothing angelic presence, offering hope and a reminder to stay strong."
