Songfacts®:

  • This country-tinged, retro affair finds Miley Cyrus addressing a theoretical breakup.

I know that I gave you my heart, but you stomped it to the ground.
And that's what's got me wondering what it's like to not have you around

The song draws inspiration from Cyrus' on-off-again-on relationship with her fiancee, the Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. The couple have dated on and off since 2009 and got engaged for a second time in January 2016 after breaking things off three years earlier.
  • Cyrus told The Sun the track was inspired by one of her heroes, Elvis Presley. "I was thinking about Blue Hawaii when I wrote that song," she said. "I want everyone to hear it. I was thinking about Elvis in the jail scene singing Beach Boy Blues."
  • Cyrus debuted the song live when she took the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Vegas on September 23, 2017.
