Songfacts®:

  • Miranda Lambert was born and raised in Texas before moving to Oklahoma, the home state of her husband, Blake Shelton. This love letter to Lambert's adopted home state was written especially for her by the Alternative Country singer-songwriter, Allison Moorer. The proud Texan said of the ballad: "I will always be from Texas. But now with this new life, I've moved away from my family and started my own family in Oklahoma and married an Okie. I feel like it's my ode to my beautiful new home state. Just as much as I love Texas, I now love Oklahoma, and it's kind of my song for my life there now."
