Songfacts®:

  • This song turns a tale about walking to the tube station into an exploration of sexism, macho louts and gender politics. "Walking from my old house in Tottenham to the tube in Seven Sisters felt like running a gauntlet," Shah explained to Q magazine. "You get accosted by people, wolf-whistled if you didn't react well to someone saying 'Hey baby!,' and if you were like 'Eff off, leave me alone,' they'll start berating you. Then the day's it didn't happen, I'll be like 'Oh, I mustn't look very nice today.' That's how much it mucks with your head."
