  It was written by the Cuban songwriter Osvaldo Farres in 1947, sung in Spanish with the title "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas." The Puerto Rican singer Bobby Capó released the first version of the song that year.
  
  In 1948, an American music publisher named Joe Davis translated the lyrics to English, and that year Desi Arnaz recorded the first English-language version (this was before Arnaz' groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy. Many artists have since covered the song, including Doris Day, Montovani, Cake, Ben E. King and Geri Halliwell.
• This song finds the singer frustrated because their romantic partner won't commit, answering the question "Do you love me?" with the swishy "perhaps, perhaps, perhaps."
• "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" isn't gender specific, so it's been covered by a pretty even mix of men and women. The most popular version is probably by Doris Day, who released it in 1965.
• Mari Wilson sings the version used as the theme song for the British TV show Coupling (kind of like a UK version of Friends - quite charming), which ran from 2000-2004. An American version of the show that aired in 2003 used a version performed by Lindsay Price.
• Movies to use "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" include Strictly Ballroom, In The Mood For Love and Running with Scissors.
• Nat King Cole's version is in Spanish ("Quizas, Quizas, Quizas"). It was included on his 1958 album Cole Español and used in the 2000 film In The Mood For Love.
