She first came to the attention of many in her native country when at the age of 16 she won the Portuguese Television Song Contest final in 1994, consequently earning a place in that year's Eurovision Song Contest, with the song "Chamar a Música" reaching eighth place. The songstress became a national star with her 1999 sophomore album, Mi Ma Bo released by RCA, which went gold in Portugal.
