Songfacts®:

  • This song was written by J Balvin, who thought it would be right up Nicky Jam's alley. "Normally my songs are more romantic," Jam told Billboard magazine. "[Balvin] sent [the beat] to me and told me, 'Yo, Nicky I think this will be a good single for you,' and I agreed."

Jam accepted with one proviso - that Balvin also participate in the song.
  • Asked during a Genius video interview whether the song made him think about anyone, Jam replied:

"The song is talking about, 'They say I'm not worth it. They say I'm a player.' And you know what? I'm not gonna deny it. That's who I am. That's what I do. You know you like the player, 'cause inside, a girl, she always the player. She just don't say it. You know what I'm saying? There's a time in her life when she doesn't want it anymore. She wants the quiet guy. But when you're younger, you always look for the bad boy. It's normal. It's the way it is. It's the way life is."
