OK Go wrote and recorded this for the movie Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Bassist-vocalist Tim Nordwind explained to Jam! Music: "Steve Pink, who's the director of HTTM, had called us about seven or eight months ago and said we're doing HTTM2, and 'We're looking for a song for the end credits, and we really want to base it off of this song that the guys (in the movie) sing, that they made up on the spot for one of the scenes.' We thought it was particularly funny because we are such nerds."
It has long been speculated that the Soundgarden song "Black Hole Sun" came from the name of a sculpture in Seattle, but according to their frontman Chris Cornell the title came from a phrase he misheard on the news. The band's name did come from a sculpture.
Stephens Stills played timbales on the Bee Gees hit, "You Should Be Dancing." He was in the next door studio laying down a Crosby, Stills and Nash album and could hear Saturday Night Fever being recorded. Stills recognized its potential to be a monster hit and he wanted to contribute.
