  • A little-known artist before this sports-nodding track's release, Dallas rapper/singer Post Malone was surprised when the cut took the Internet by storm. "When I wrote it, I didn't know that people [were] gonna f--k with it as much as I did," he said in a interview with DJ Skee. "I didn't plan on releasing it any time soon either, but it leaked somewhere and we just said f--k it and recorded it."
  • The song finds Malone asserting himself as one of the best in the game as he compares himself to various basketball legends, especially Allen Iverson, who played both the shooting guard and point guard positions for four different teams. Iverson was the NBA's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2001 and an 11-time NBA All-Star.
  • This is not the first time Allen Iverson has been namechecked on a rap hit. In 2009 Asher Roth spat on "I Love College":

I am champion at beer pong
    Allen Iverson Hakeem Olajuwon
  • Post Malone came up with the title after getting braids in his hair and thinking they looked like Allen Iverson's signature cornrows.
  • Post Malone finally got to hang out with Allen Iverson in the summer of 2017. He recalled the experience to Billboard:

"It was nuts. My manager goes, 'Hey, you wanna meet Allen?' I'm like, 'Hell yeah I wanna meet Allen.' So we just went up to some house up in the Hills - we had a couple glasses of champagne and we just kicked it for a little bit. It was a dream come true, just to see that he actually liked the song. He said his kids loved it and everybody loves it, so that meant the world to me that I had his blessings."

  • Piper from San Franciscoposter boy Malone, I know he likes Doritos, I know he sings with a auto tuner, I know he made a song with Ozzy, I know he has a face tattoo, but the lyrics are crunch for his hits " whack boy shoes, guitar blues, caught on the sofa with a bottle of soda, stealthing my grizz while the baby take a whizz gonna make four more rather drop a load on the floor, wash it off in the shower with some real ninja power" . most down loaded song of the pandemic era, mike drop.
