  • Prospa are a Leeds electronic duo comprising Harvey Blumler and Gosha Smith, childhood friends who traded guitars and drums for synthesizers and drum machines. Their sets blend 1990s rave nostalgia with a heavy, modern club punch.
  • Before discovering house music, the two came from different corners of the Leeds guitar scene. "He loved rock, I loved metal," Smith told DMY. "He had a mohawk, I had hair down to my arse!" Blumler added. Blumler had played drums since age four, while Smith spent his teens playing guitar as fast as he could.
  • They bonded at a Leeds Festival after Blumler got into an argument about sidechain compression (a production technique where the level of one audio signal is used to automatically lower the volume of another signal). The other person didn't have a clue what Blumler was talking about, so Smith stepped in to back him up. Smith admitted he actually disliked dance music until that fateful festival trip changed his mind.
  • The duo began producing together as Prospa in 2013, spending their first two years crafting deep house before growing tired of the genre. They eventually pivoted toward a breakbeat-leaning rave sound around 2017, a natural middle ground after Blumler's early work making dubstep-inspired beats and Smith's focus on jazz-infused hip-hop.
  • Their breakthrough single, "Prayer," arrived in October 2018 on Stress Records, helping relaunch the heritage house label after it lay dormant for 13 years. The track reached #77 on the UK Singles Chart and established their signature sound.
  • In February 2021, Prospa launched their own imprint, Rave Science, under Polydor Records, debuting the label with the Rave Science, Vol. 1 EP later that spring. Smith noted it was time to showcase "the club sound," even though pandemic lockdowns meant there were few club shows to play at the time.

The pandemic gave them room to experiment with new gear and expand their songwriting as they began incorporating acoustic instruments alongside their synths.
  • Their debut full-length album, Free Your Mind, arrived on June 5, 2026. The title track, a collaboration with Cloonee released on March 27, 2026, became their first UK Top 10 hit.
