• On June 14, 2022, BTS announced that the band members would devote more attention to solo music projects. RM subsequently released his debut solo studio album, Indigo, led by this single on December 2, 2022. He is the second BTS member to release a solo longplayer during their hiatus, following J-Hope's Jack In The Box.
• This introspective song is sung in Korean; it's title translates into English as "Wild Flower." Embracing elements of rock and rap, RM sings of managing his success and not getting lost in his fame. He wishes to live like a calm wildflower, staying true to who he is.
• Youjeen, the vocalist of the South Korean rock band Cherry Filter, croons the chorus. "When I was making 'Wildflower' I immediately thought of Youjeen of Cherry Filter and her powerful, rocking voice," RM told Vogue. "She is undeniably one of the top rock vocalists in Korea. She's number one to me. So I called her and told her it had to be her."

  RM made up the word "Flowerwork" himself. "When I see fireworks, it happens so fast - it's so short and beautiful, but it's gone," he explained to Variety. "And seeing the fireworks, I thought, if I could do a fireworks with some wildflower - you know, not actual fireworks, because it's just a metaphor - and if I hold some flowers and throw it to the sky, it could be like fireworks. And yeah, I just made up that word."
• The song features a contribution from DOCSKIM, a session keyboardist and producer of the Seo Taiji Band.
• RM originally titled the song "Flowerwork" but changed it as he feared it might confuse listeners.
• Opening with glittering gold fireworks, the video follows a natural theme. It alternates between RM singing in a serene field of wildflowers and butterflies, and more turbulent scenes such as in the eye of a storm or amid destroyed trees.
• RM performed the song live for the first time during a December 5, 2022 intimate concert at the Rolling Hall venue in Seoul. Youjeen joined the BTS rapper and leader on stage for the song.
