Songfacts®:

  • "LLYLM" is an acronym for "Lie like you love me." Over a guitar and signature handclaps, Rosalia explores fake affection as she bemoans how her love interest doesn't feel the same way about her.
  • Rosalia opens the song in Spanish, expressing her sadness that the man doesn't show her the devotion she desires. During the pre-chorus, she reveals that it's carnival time, a period for disguise, and though the target of her affection hails from a different country, she intends to express herself openly. To ensure clarity, she switches to English on the chorus.

I don't need honestly, baby, lie like you love me
  • "LLYLM" isn't the first time Rosalía sang in English. In 2017, she covered Bonnie "Prince" 1999 track "I See A Darkness" on her debut album, Los Ángeles.
  • Rosalía started teasing "LLYLM" on TikTok in early January 2023 while vacationing in Tokyo with her boyfriend, Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro. She released it as her first single after her Motomami album on January 27, 2023.
  • Rosalia wrote "LLYLM" with Daniel Aged and Shellback along with her Motomami collaborators Dylan Wiggins, David Rodríguez, Noah Goldstein and Dylan Patrice. Rosalia also co-produced the track with Rodríguez, Goldstein and Patrice.
  • Three of the writers played all the instruments between them:

    Noah Goldstein: drums, synthesizer
    Dylan Wiggins: synthesizer, organ, bass
    Daniel Aged: bass
