Songfacts®:

  • In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian dance act Rüfüs Du Sol released their first song in three years: "Alive." The 2021 Surrender album's lead single finds frontman Tyrone Lindqvist lying awake at night with an aching chest and a tormented mind, but he finds comfort in the fact that he's still alive.

"It's a heavier song in some ways, but at its core it's hopeful," he explained. "We are - all of us - living in this transitional moment right now and we wanted to focus on the hope that the future holds for us all. To focus on the light at the end of this tunnel."
  • This earned the band their first Grammy win for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2022.
  • This peaked at #18 on the US Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
