Songfacts®:

  • Written in response to Sloppy Seconds' 1990 single "I Don't Wanna Be A Homosexual," this is a vicious attack on the rampant homophobia and conformity found in much of the punk community. The singer proclaims that he would rather be a homosexual because he would be going against the established conventions of the punk scene, since forgoing convention is what the scene is supposed to be doing in the first place: "It's the straight in straight edge that makes me want to drink a beer and be a pansy and be a homo." >>>

  • This was used in the 2002 movie Highway, starring Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Selma Blair.
