Songfacts®:

  • Running to 4 minutes 25 seconds, the love theme "Pehla Pehla Pyar" - also alluded to as "Pehla Pehla Pyaar Hai" and spelt "Pahala Pahala Pyaar Hai" etc, due to its being transliterated from Hindi, is performed in the 1994 film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun...!, ostensibly by Salman Khan to a coy Madhuri Dixit, although the voice is actually that of S.P. Balasubramaniam who over a period of 35 years has recorded over 36,000 songs, a feat which - unsurprisingly - earned him a place in the Guinness Book Of Records.
  • The song is fully orchestrated with a choir to boot, apparently all female, and lightly but enticingly choreographed with the sort of enchanting sequences the world has come to expect from Bollywood. There are no less than 14 songs in this film.
  • "Pehla Pehla Pyaar" was composed by Ram Laxman with lyrics by Ravender Rawal and Dev Kohli. In English the title can be rendered as "For The Very First Time," which seems most unlikely owing to the then ages of Khan and Dixit, and the professional way in which her suitor throws the young lady over his shoulder and carries her from the kitchen to the billiard table. >>>
