I Prefer Your Love

Album: St. Vincent (2014)
  • This song finds St. Vincent's Annie Clark singing of preferring, "your love to Jesus." She told The Observer it was written for her mother, who has just recovered from serious illness. "I won't say what, but she's better now," said the Manhattan singer.
  • Clark told NME that this song is about her relationship to her parents. "You get to a point where you realize that you can't lose them," she said. "Or you already have. And like... crossing some precipice into – it's so unsexy, but – adulthood."
