Songfacts®:

  • Wall of Voodoo was the Los Angeles band that Stan Ridgway fronted from 1977-1983. Stan told us: "That's got that whole Wall of Voodoo story in there."

A cautionary tale about how the music business can destroy a band, Ridgway recounts the key events in the history of Wall of Voodoo, including their Punk roots and reaction to their hit song "Mexican Radio." The two band members who are "gone to heaven" are guitarist Marc Moreland and drummer Joe Nanini, who both died in the '00s.
