Songfacts®:

  • Stephanie Poetri is a Taurus, born May 20. But what happens if she falls for someone with an incompatible sign, like a Leo or, even worse, an Aquarius. That's where she finds herself in this song, where she's drawn to an astrologically illogical partner.

"I was inspired by this culture of checking our compatibility with one another through astrology," she explained. "Based on my own experiences, even with signs I'm supposed to be compatible with, it doesn't always feel accurate. So this song is a fun critique on how astrology doesn't seem to work for me."
  • Poetri is best known for her song "I Love You 3000," which became a viral smash when she posted it in 2019. She was 19 and living in her native Indonesia when she wrote it, but after it took off she moved to Los Angeles and signed with the label 88Rising. Genetics are in her favor: her dad is a music teacher and her mom is a famous singer in Indonesia who performs as Titi DJ. She was 23 when she released "Astrologically Illogical."
  • Poetri is involved in her visuals, with an aesthetic formed from her time as a social media influencer, notably on Instagram and Twitch. She directed the video for this song with John Liwag. It all takes place in the same room but is heavy on graphics and composites, similar to what many creator videos look like, but with better production value.
