Butterfly House was produced by John Leckie of The Stone Roses and Radiohead fame. Frontman James Skelley cited this song as an example of Leckie's contribution to the record: "With the song 'She's Comin' Around,' the bit that's now the chorus was originally the end of this massive chorus. He just said, 'That's s--t, lose that,' which you'd never see yourself, but it makes it better. And just getting sounds and stuff, you'd go off for a bit and he gets all these amazing sounds. Or you'd just ask him for something and he'd know exactly what you meant."
Michael Jackson's "Liberian Girl" opens with the South African female singer Letta Mbulu saying the Swahili phrase "Naku penda piya-naku taka piya-mpenziwe." There was some geographic liberty here, as Swahili is not spoken in the West African nation of Liberia.
