Songfacts®:

  • Patterson Hood of the Drive By Truckers supplied guest backing vocals on this track. Earlier in 2008 Hood had invoked the Hold Steady in a lyric on a track from the Drive By Trucker's album Brighter Than Creation's Dark. On "The Righteous Path" there is a line that goes, "Just trying to hold steady on the righteous path" and later on another line, "We're trying to hold steady on the righteous path."
