Songfacts®:

  • Written by Moody Blues keyboard player Mike Pinder, this song features Justin Hayward on lead vocals with Pinder singing the bridge. The song is Track 2 of the Days of Future Passed concept album, with each song representing a time of day - in this case dawn. The song is preceded by "Morning Glory" and followed by "Another Morning."
  • After the orchestral intro, "Dawn is a Feeling" begins more abruptly, and there is less echo on Mike Pinder's vocal on the bridge, making it stick out. This is due to deterioration of the master tapes and a remake done is 1978. The album was remixed into quadraphonic in 1972. >>>

  • Some have cited Days Of Future Past as the first "concept album." However, Hayward told Q magazine in 1990 there was predecessor. "There was one record that influenced us very much which was called The Zodiac by a group called Cosmic Sounds," he said, "A fabulous record."

  • Charlie from Baltimore Hayward on lead, Pindar on the bridge.
  • Michael from Kissimmee, FlI believe that is Justin Hayward, not Mike Pinder, on the lead vocal. Mike did, however, write this song.
  • Reg from Kemptville, On, -That whole album makes for one marvelous piece of music.
