Songfacts®:

  • The name of The National's sixth album comes from this uptempo tune ("If I stay here. Trouble will find me"). The title can be read several ways; drummer Bryan Devendorf's explanation to Gothamist was: "For me it's sort of fatalistic in a way, and maybe a bit paranoid. There's a wryness to it as well, like 'oh, well,' but when you're hearing the record, there's some triumph and confidence that belies [that]."
  • The song was debuted by the band on the April 25, 2013 episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
  • The song's music video was directed by Sophia Peer, and was based on the clip for Russian Punk Rock band's Zvuki Mu's song "Grubiy Zakat."
