  • Alan Harris from UkWell I engineered my-Sarah at Air studios. The base track was actually recorded during the previous album. Like all studio sessions each track has a working title. My memory is it was just written as my Sarah on the tape box but at my age now the memory is a bit flakey. The time line may help to resolve this issue. Was his daughter actually born at the time the base track was laid down? Did he rewrite the lyric post her birth? I think my boss Tony Visconti recorded-overdubbed-mixed the remainder of the black rose album in Germany.
  • Frannei from Dumaguete City, PhilippinesI like the song, it reminds me of my special friend "sarah".
  • Rosaleen from Leeds , United KingdomI named my 1st daughter SARAH CATHLEEN she's now 12, I always sing SARAH to her, she likes the song but not me singing it, haha. Lizzy fan since I was young, so it was apt that I gave Sarah her name, my 2nd daughter is Maria, my middle name is Marie (Sweet Marie) and 3rd daughter Rosie, me l'm Rosaleen (Dark Rosaleen) or Rosalie is you wish!
By the way, the debate above "Sarah" it is called "Sarah" Americans record companies must have made a misprint on your albums. Soz but it's definately "SARAH" older version is about Phil's Grandmother. R.I.P. PHIL,(Still in Love with You)
  • Roddie from Waterford, IrelandThe songs correct title is SARAH and was written for Philips eldest daughter. For some reason, Americans tend to refer to it as 'My Sarah' which is incorrect. There is ANOTHER Thin Lizzy song also titled SARAH which was written many years previously and was written for Philips grandmother. Philip also wrote a song for his other daughter, Cathleen. • Greg from Dublin, IrelandTo be fair adam if you look at the track listings on the Black Rose Album, this song is track five and it's simply called "Sarah". The other version is also called Sarah, but is often referred to as Sarah -Version 2. I bet Snowey White was your favourite lizzy guitarist too...
  • Adam from A Little Cute Town, SwedenCan't you please get your facts right? This song you mention here from Black Rose album is actually called "My Sarah" and yes it's about Phil's daughter. The song called just "Sarah" is from the album Shades of a Blue Orphanage (1972) and this song is about Phil's grandmother.
  • Sarah from Colac, Australiai love this song, i wish my dad had written it about me!
