Songfacts®:

  • This is the only song on Sundown Heaven Town for which Tim McGraw has a writing credit. He penned the tune with the Warren Brothers and Blair Daly. "It's all about not having to think too much, just have a good time," McGraw told Rolling Stone Country.
  • The phrase 'keep on truckin' is an expression meaning "you've got to persevere." It originates from a song first recorded by Blind Boy Fuller in the 1930s, "Truckin' My Blues Away." and was popularized by the US underground cartoonist Robert Crumb in the 1960s. In 1973 former Temptations founding-member Eddie Kendricks had a solo Hot 100 #1 hit with a song utilising the title.
