Songfacts®:

  • In "Dream Walkin'" Toby Keith walks that fine line between dreams and memories. All he can think about is the alluring woman he had a one-night stand with. When he woke up, she was gone, leaving behind a yellow rose and a note letting him know she had a good time. Now, she won't get out of his thoughts.

It's not clear if this woman is real or if he dreamed the whole thing, Wizard Of Oz style, but we know she's always in his dreams and he wants nothing more than to go back to sleep so he can find out how it ends.
  • "Dream Walkin'" is the title track to Toby Keith's fifth album. Peaking at #5 on the Country chart, it was his 13th Top 10 hit on that tally.
  • Keith wrote the song with Chuck Cannon, a popular Nashville songwriter who often worked with Keith. Other songs they worked on together include Toby's "How Do You Like Me Now!?" and "American Soldier."
  • Michael Salomon directed the music video, which shows warped and otherwise distorted footage to go along with the dream theme. The lady seems very real at times, but then we'll see floating guitars, making us wonder if it's all an illusion.
