Songfacts®:

  • This song allies an energetic tempo to bruised lyrics. Singer Fran Healy explained the song's meaning to The Sun: "The song is about the awful feeling of seeing your girl with another guy. I write it on the back of a jam we made early in recording. I wanted the lyric to be a sort of classic Phil Spector-era bubblegum heartbreak."
  • The song's lo-fi music video was shot on VHS and directed by German feature film director Wolfgang Becker (Goodbye Lenin) who also plays the menacing "another guy" in the clip. Healy said: "Wolfgang Becker made a little dramatization which does all the things a Travis video should do. We decided, in light of everything going hi definition, we'd shoot on a VHS camera. Also we asked Wolfgang to star in it because HE IS THE COOLEST GUY IN BERLIN."
