Song For Someone

Album: Echoes from the Underground (2013)

  • Vertical Horizon frontman Matt Scannell started writing this song after playing some shows in Iraq for the armed forces. He recalled to Artist Direct: "I remember one night it was 125 degrees outside and a sandstorm was starting up. I saw a female soldier walk by in full uniform and body armor while carrying a massive backpack and rifle, and I wondered what kept her going. I then thought of the people back home who loved her and missed her... The song went from there."
