  • 2019 saw Dominic Harrison, aka Yungblud, establish himself as a rock star when his The Underrated Youth EP charted worldwide. However, though his professional life was proving successful, his personal life was less so. The Doncaster-born singer nearly lost his mother in a car accident and he experienced heartbreak after a high profile relationship ended. Harrison wrote this energetic pop song about his struggles to handle the trappings of fame following his meteoric rise.

"It was like I was walking down the street but the pavement was continually changing like a maze and I was going to fall down the cracks," he told Official Charts. "I was like, how am I going to deal with this? It's been a dark time, but it's also been a beautifully weird, twisted time of my life."
  • Asked by NME about the song's musical inspiration, Harrison said he went for an LCD Soundsystem and Depeche Mode vibe. "I wanted a naivety to the song because this is a coming of age record," he explained.
  • Harrison wrote the song in late 2019 (a pre-coronavirus world), and released it on April 22, 2020. He originally planned on dropping it later in 2020, but the single was bumped up the schedule after taking on a new meaning amid the COVID-19 outbreak. "It needs to come out now because everything feels weird but I'm hopeful that everything's going to be alright," Harrison said. "It feels heartwarming and naive and full contradictions, yet happy and real. I want it to make people feel happy, especially right now."
  • Yungblud filmed the video entirely from lockdown from his Los Angeles home with his three-person quarantine crew. It begins with the singer pondering the question, "If the world was going to end tomorrow, what would be the last story you told?" Yungblud then answers his query with a joyful clip augmented with colorful visual effects and remote appearances by friends and family. Said YungBlud:

"Currently, I'm trapped in LA with my best friends. We made this [video] for $100 and this might be my favorite video we've ever made. I think you can see the happiness from it coming out of the screen."
  • Yungblud topped the UK albums chart for the first time with the Weird! album. His previous chart peak was with his 2019 EP The Underrated Youth, which peaked at #6.
