  • Hold on my heart
Just hold on to that feeling
We both know we've been here before
We both know what can happen

    Hold on my heart
'cause I'm looking over you shoulder
Please don't rush in this time
Don't show her how you feel

    Hold on my heart
    Throw me a lifeline
I'll keep a place for you
    Somewhere deep inside

    Hold on my heart
Please tell her to be patient
'cause there has never been a time
    That I wanted something more

If I can recall this feeling
    And I know there's a chance
    Oh I will be there
    Yes I will be there
    Be there for you
    Whenever you want me to
Whenever you call I will be there
    Yes I will be there

    Hold on my heart
Don't let her see you crying
    No matter where I go
    She'll always be with me

    Hold on my heart
Just hold on to that feeling
We both know we've been here before
We both know what can happen
So hold on my heart Writer/s: Michael Rutherford, Phil Collins, Tony Banks

  • Jennifer from TampaOne of my favorite memories of my late husband was us dancing to this in our living room. The other song we really enjoyed was "One More Night". For him, OMN was a collection of memories of the woman he fell in love with while stationed in Cairo, Egypt, as a jet instructor pilot for the United States Air Force in 1985. They would have ended up together except he had a wife (cold and unloving) and two children to come back to (selfish POS's). I never judged him because we all have been lonely at times. He told me that for years, he felt a void since then, but I helped him seal the gap. It's almost as if this song, was a sequel to the past, that put his emotions into words and music.

Requiem en pace, my darling dragon, Steve. It's almost what would have been your 70th birthday and it's almost 7 years since you rested your wings for this world in preparation for soaring in the next. I shall always love you and keep you in my heart!!!
  • Tlc1976 from Michigan I was surprised when I learned this was a Genesis song and not Phil solo. Mainly because the bass part sounds like Lee Sklar. But this song reminds me of Against All Odds and I thought the beautiful keyboards on that sounded like Tony Banks.
  • Xavier from North Bay, OnMy wife and I chose this song as first dance for us at our wedding.
It's such a beautiful song. Somewhat sad too, but beautiful...
  • Miles from Vancouver, CanadaEven late in the Phil Collins era, Genesis were still musically oriented. If you take the vocals off this song, you get a very nice New Age piece. Plus, Mike Rutherford's guitar fills sound very much like Carlos Santana.
  • Andrew from Buffalo, NyThis song is a tribute to Burt Bacharach, it was originally titled "burt"
