  • Spartan from ScotlandWalking through central park and in love. Perfect . Then Yoko has to put in an image of John's body. We didn't need your "artistic integrity" on that score Yoko. What happened was quite shocking and final enough.
  • Dave Lee from UkBeautiful song, love his voice. The fade out when sings 'yeah yeah' just so magical
  • Paul Osman from Liverpool, EnglandIn this song I can hear another, the 1976 version of "I'm Your Puppet" by James and Bobby Purify. This is an INFLUENCE. No doubt John, Paul and George heard other songs and ( My Sweet Lord apart) p
. iut enough if their own input to make it unique. Incidentally in 1980 the UK was in recession and the EMI record pressing factory was about to shut early for Christmas some days after John was murdered. Although tragic, this event saved people's jobs due to posthumous demand for John's songs
  • Terry Dean from Manchester, UkFor RJ of Cleveland, I thought you might be right about the spoken part at the start of the song, as in the UK, the “other half” is a common reference for your spouse. I listened closely to the record and John definitely says, “For the other half of the sky”. This sounds odd until you compare it with a Mao quote that “Women can hold up half of the sky”!
  • Diego Garcia from Manila, PhilippinesLoved the Rickenbacker on this song...
  • D R from OhioMost romantic song.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn January 11th 1981, "Woman" by John Lennon entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #36; and nine weeks later on March 15th, 1981 it peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} and spent 20 weeks on the Top 100...
The week it entered the Top 100 his "(Just Like) Starting Over" was in its fourth of five weeks at #1 on the chart...
Before reaching #2 "Woman" spent three weeks at #3...
The first week "Woman" was at #2, the #1 record was "Keep On Loving You" by REO Speedwagon and for its next two weeks at #2, "Rapture" by Blondie was in the top spot...
    R.I.P. Mr. Lennon {1940 - 1980}.
  • Don from Sevierville, TnI've been wondering about this - would this song have been released as a single even if John had not been murdered? Or was it released as a single because of John's death?
  • Mecid from Baku, AzerbaijanThe Greatest Love Song From The Greatest Musician Of All Time
  • Rj from Cleveland, Oh...for the other half of this guy.
    not "the sky."
[it *was* about yoko, after all.]
  • Wayne from New Haven, CtThis song is Great! Everything..the vocals, the music. Its a well crafted song. Love the key change on the last verse and John Harmonizing with himself! The video was okay until the part that showed John Dead (From the National Enquier).
Yoko put that picture in the Vid...
  • Samuel from Kilsyth, United KingdomThe Song 'WOMAN', has a Very 'Ironic' Touch to it, No 1, it was Recorded a Month Before he was Shot By Assassin (EVIL MARK CHAPMAN)No 2, The Words in the Song, is like the Words in a Letter, To a Woman he loves, yet Knows, he Won't Be Around to Share His LOVE for Her, Well As John Says In The SONG, 'Its Written In The Stars', God Bless You John. Thanks Samuel,Kilsyth UK.
  • Howard from Wakefield, United KingdomWithout doubt it proved that John could still 'cut the mustard' despite his self imposed exile for many years. Please listen to 'Bless You' from Walls & Bridges though; it is just as good.
  • Claire from Miller's, MdI got an autograph from Yoko Ono=)
  • Boots from Manila, PhilippinesWhenever I hear this song, the year 1980 month of December comes to my mind. It was a period of mourning for the death of John; the most influential person (along with the rest of the Beatles) in rock on roll music. His immortal songs will be the world's treasure for many generations to come.
  • Ashley from Carlisle, PaThe most romantic song of all time, period.
  • Vanessa from New York City, Nyit's the most beautiful, most romantic words a man can express to a woman he truly loves. It's so beautiful to love like that.
  • Katie from Sunderland, EnglandI love this song. You can feel the love. Not many people find love like that and if you do you are very lucky. Well that is what i believe
  • Ivan from Dallas, TxIt'a amzing that John is capable of writing songs using very simple musical structures but with profound meanings, like Imagine, I Feel Fine, All You Need Is Love..and this one. He is also capable of the other extreme, writing very complicated songs like "Walrus". But I think his genius is making a real simple melody into a rock classic, like Revolution, Rain, Hey Bulldog, Come Together...and many many others.
  • Jonathon from Clermont, Fl"For the other half of the sky..."
  • Polly from London, EnglandIt is the most simple yet romantic song ever written for a woman. John Lennon is my idol, missed him so much
  • Fyodor from Denver, CoI think this is very reminiscent of The Beatles' (though mostly Paul's) "Here, There and Everywhere".
  • Valisilwen from A Place, VaI think it's sooo beautiful that John loved Yoko so much. So many people gave him so much crap about her and yet he continued to love her. It makes me incredibly happy, because love like that is hard to find. I personally like Yoko Ono...anyroad I think it's great that John loved Yoko so much and Yoko loved John so much. ^_^
  • Paul from Flagstaff, AzExcellent song. No doubt about it.
  • Liliana from Huntley, Ilamazing song, one of lennon's best and most timelsess pieces
  • Mix Master Wipe from Adelaide, AustraliaMagic song,so simple, but so much love in it!
  • Stefanie Magura from Rock Hill, ScYeah1 i think it's a beautiful song! The words are great, and it was obvious how much John loved Yoco.
  • AndrÃ? from Arlington, MaThis song is extremely narcissistic and depicts the woman as merely a symptom of man and a subservient fetish of the male subject. Apparently, women are comfortable with it. Good for them.
  • Mel Torment from Portland, Meby the way lauren, John Lennon is quoted as saying "As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot."
  • Carly from San Diego, CaThis song is beautiful; i saw the lennon legend video too
  • Jude from Los Angeles, CaWow.. I really love this song, I saw the music video in Lennon Legend and I swear to god it made me cry, it's such a beautiful song and it captures the love from a man to a woman plus I like the music video it showed what John really was saying.
  • Jen from Joburg, South AfricaIt's such a beautiful song it makes you hate Mark David whatsaname (I think Chapman) even more (for those who don't know, the guy who shot John Lennon). so romantic, I just hope a guy loves me as much as John Clearly loved Yoko, someday
  • Alejandro from Mexico D.f., Mexicothis is the most beautiful song that a man can dedicate to a woman... No one can ask for more
  • Shirley from Ocean, NjThis is a beautiful song. It's a wonderful feeling to know that someone loves you enough to write down these lovely words and sing them for all the world to hear. Something only any one of the Beatles could do. Just goes to show you how John mellowed through the years.
  • Lauren from Fenton, MiI really like this song. It was played during my wedding reception and I danced with my husband to it. It is a great song because it really captures how weak and child-like men can be. Not in a bad way either! Behind every great man is a great woman.
