  • It's been a long time since I came around
Been a long time but I'm back in town
And this time I'm not leavin' without you

You taste like Whiskey when you kiss me, oh
I'd give anything again to be your baby doll
This time I'm not leavin' without you

He said, "Sit back down where you belong
In the corner of my bar with your high heels on
Sit back down on the couch where we made love the first time"
And you said to me there's

(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about this place
    (Somethin') Somethin' about lonely nights
And my lipstick on your face
(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about my cool Nebraska guy
Yeah, somethin' about baby you and I

It's been two years since I let you go
I couldn't listen to a joke or rock and roll
Muscle cars drove a truck right through my heart

On my birthday you sang me A Heart of Gold
With a guitar humming and no clothes
This time I'm not leavin' without you, oh (oh)

Sit back down where you belong
In the corner of my bar with your high heels on
Sit back down on the couch where we made love the first time
And you said to me there's

(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about this place
    (Somethin') Somethin' about lonely nights
And my lipstick on your face
(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about my cool Nebraska guy
Yeah, somethin' about baby you and I

    You and I
    You you and I
    You you and I
    You you and I-I

    You and I
    You you and I
    Oh yeah, I'd rather die
    Without you and I

Come on, put your drinks up

We got a whole lot of money, but we still pay rent
'Cause you can't buy a house in Heaven
There's only three men that I'ma serve my whole life
It's my daddy and Nebraska and Jesus Christ, there's

(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about the chase (six whole years)
(Somethin') I'm a New York woman born to run you down
Still want my lipstick all over your face
(Somethin') Somethin', somethin' about just knowin' when it's right
So put your dreams up for Nebraska
For Nebraska, Nebraska, I love you

    You and I
    You you and I
    Baby I'd rather die
    Without you and I-I-I

    You and I
    You you and I
    Nebraska
    I'd rather die
    Without you and I-I-I

It's been a long time since I came around
Been a long time but I'm back in town
And this time I'm not leavin' without you Writer/s: Stefani Germanotta

  • Fiddle Fingers from Northern, AzYeah the pronoun, thing makes it a pain to sing and play on my acoustic guitar. I'm trying to change it from a guy POV, which some of it is. But then some of it is tuff.
  • Yvonne Colton from HemetLady Peyton I agree with you. I liked Gaga but this song made me dig deep into her music and I'm I love with it all, but you and I is stellar !!!!!
  • Lady Peyton from New OrleansThis song made me fall in love with Lady GaGa. I had heard her sing before & liked her voice, but this song blew me away. Now I can't get enough of her.
  • Alice from Cuiabá, BrazilI think the song and the video is kind of painful and lovely. It tells a beautiful history, the video is deep and I dare to say that is one of the best of her. It's about someone who could do anything just to get that guy back. There's passion in her voice when she sings it, that's why I think the song is so heavy. Gaga will always do new things, she's full of inspiration.
  • Joshua from New Berlin, WiThe first few times I heard this song, I had no idea who it was from. Given its unmistakable whiff of countrified pop, a la Faith Hill or Shania Twain, I figured it was by someone in that vein. Lady Gaga is about the last artist I would have expected. Then again, she says she is trying to emulate Queen here, and in their peak years Queen had their own penchant for genre-bending experimentation. I guess you could call this song Gaga's answer to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".
  • Megan from Stevenson, AlThis is, by far, the best song Lady Gaga has ever written and sang! It's just all around great music.
  • Camille from Toronto, OhWow. I'm honored to be the first one on Songfacts to comment on this epic tune. And over time, it will become epic. The song grows on you the more you listen to it. The video is classic Gaga and right up there in the 'extrordinary video' category along with "Bad Romance". But the video is one thing. Let's just discuss the song. And Gaga's voice. The cadence of her words mixed with the simplistic sounding phrase "You and I", that she repeats, and repeats......it builds momentum and then, as she sings the last verse, her voice is so very crystal clear, subtle determined passion.. That's why she's a star. That voice. What an entertainer. Love you, Gaga!!!!!!!!
