  • Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer

Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Feel the rhythm of the music getting stronger
Don't you fight it 'til you tried it, do that conga beat

    Everybody gather 'round now
Let your body feel the heat
Don't you worry if you can't dance
Let the music move your feet

It's the rhythm of the island, and like the sugar cane so sweet
If you want to do the conga, you've got to listen to the beat

Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Feel the rhythm of the music getting stronger
Don't you fight it 'til you tried it, do that conga beat

Feel the fire of desire, as you dance the night away
'Cause tonight were gonna party, 'til we see the break of day

Better get yourself together, and hold on to what you've got
Once the music hits your system, there's no way your gonna stop

(Repeat 3x's) Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Feel the rhythm of the music getting stronger
Don't you fight it 'til you tried it, do that conga beat

Between 1985 and 1988 the Miami Sound Machine had nine records on the Top 100 chart, seven made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Anything For You", for 2 weeks on May 8th, 1988...
And Gloria Estefan, as a solo artist, charted twenty times on the Top 100, three made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "Don't Wanna Lose You" for 1 week in September of 1989 and "Coming Out Of The Dark" for 2 weeks in March of 1991...

Gloria Estefan, born Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García, celebrated her 62nd birthday four months ago on September 1st, 2019...
  • Donna from Ft. Lauderdale, FlThere's a whole segment about the Miami Sound Machine and this song in particular in the PBS 4-part documentary "Latin Music USA." It's especially interesting to hear Emilio Estefan speak about his early years in Miami after immigrating from Cuba, being broke and needing a job, joining with a few other guys to play music on weekends at local restaurants for tips, meeting Gloria for the first time...she was like 15 or 16? True and heartfelt rags-to-riches story.
  • Robert from Denver, CoI LOVE this song. It has always been one of my favorites. My kids have all loved this song from about age three and up. The beat is gonna get cha'.
