  • Risin' up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
    Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds 'til we take to the street
For the kill with the skill to survive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger

Risin' up, straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger

    The eye of the tiger
    The eye of the tiger

  • Khalif from Canadai love this site
  • Patrick Longworth from Okanagan Falls, British Columbia, CanadaInteresting details. It's sad that Peterik and Sullivan fell out, whatever the reasons but frankly? I am on "Jim's side" as he moved on to create or recreate new music and he's not just coasting which arguably Sullivan has been doing since the "Reach" album.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyPer: http://www.oldiesmusic.com/news.htm
Morton College in Cicero, Illinois inducted Jim Peterik of the Ides of March and Survivor into its inaugural Hall of Fame class Friday (February 10th, 2017). Jim was present and sang “Vehicle” and “Eye Of The Tiger” for the assembled guests.
    "Vehicle" peaked at #2* {for 1 week} in 1970, while "Eye of the Tiger" reached #1 {for 6 weeks} in 1982...
    * The week "Vehicle" was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "American Woman" by the Guess Who
  • Jack from European UnionClassic. I'm simply lovin' it :-)
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn May 28th 1982, the United Artists movie 'Rocky III' opened in theaters across the U.S.A. and Canada...
Two days later on May 30th, 1982 Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger"*, the film's theme song, entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #73; seven weeks later on July 18th it would peak at #1 {for 6 weeks} and stay on the chart for almost a half-year {25 weeks}...
The six weeks it was #1, it prevented "Rosanna" by Toto and "Hurts So Good" by John Mellencamp from reaching #1, both songs peaked at #2…
Between 1980 and 1989 the Chicago sextet had eighteen Top 100 records; five made the Top 10 with one reaching #1 {the above "Eye of the Tiger"}...
They just missed having a second #1 record when "Burning Heart" peaked at #2 for two weeks on January 26th, 1986...
    * The two weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne & Friends.
  • Donna from Ft. Lauderdale, FlThis song plays in a scene about halfway into the French animation film "Persepolis." The main character, a girl in 1980s Iran, expresses her rebellion against a closed society as she dances and throws martial arts kicks; she's a "tigress." It's a funny, poignant film by artist Marjane Satrapi revealing her personal coming-of-age.
  • Cole from Wichita, KsOne minor correction in the comment, "Mr Peterik also supplied the vocal in the Real Men of Genius campaign for Bud Light.
    - Dan, Winthrop, MA." Jim Peterik wasn't the Real Men of Genius voice for Bud Light, Dave Bickler was.
  • Ronald from South Dayton , NyDid steve perry and journey ever do this song..... ever? ( eye of the tiger )
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyWas nominated for Best Song at the 1982 Academy Awards {Lost to "Up Where We Belong" from the movie "Officer and A Gentleman"}!!!
  • Shawn from Green Bay, WiGreatest motivational song ever. The guitar chords and base clash like driving determination and brays of glory. Strong and confident lyrics. The tumbling guitar part personafies the trials that most be overcome to succeed. "Don't lose a grip of the dreams of the past. We must fight just to keep them alive." The message to strive for your dreams is universal, which is a big reason why this song is timeless. It never gets old for me.
  • Rahul from Chennai, Indiagood song but im fed up of it...heard too much of it in the past few yearss....
  • Marcus from Norwalk, Ohmy school played this song so bad someone ran out of the school!!!
  • Esrah from Elmira, MdThis has to be my fave song of all time. Love it!
  • Kat from Carlsbad, CaHow is it that the lead singer in Survivor sounds SO much like our beloved Steve Perry from Journey????? I can play "Eye Of The Tiger" then immediately listen to a similar-style song of Steve's and would swear it is him! I'm sure you've had inquiries about this before. Was Steve somehow involved?
  • Devonta from Jackson, Mithis is a TIGHT SONG!!!!!
  • Sarah from La, CaGreat song. It got even better when I saw Jensen Askles (Dean Winchester on Supernatural) lip sing it. He is soooooooo hot and funny!! I love him!!!!
  • Bruce from Long Branch, NjI heard this song on the radio not too long ago. It was on an "oldies" station. I guess music of the 80's is considered oldies now. Anyway I liked the song until the radio stations started playing it too often. Play anything too many times and you end up getting sick of it. I can picture Sly Stallone boxing whenever the song comes on.
  • Rachel Schodde from Adelaide, Australia i am A Very proud Mum and Woman of 8 Gorgeous children and I am 33 have always loved that song since the moment i first heard it year's ago , Truly Inspirational, Stare Into the eye of a tiger ? Tell me what do You see ? can i just Say No matter what The Goal/Dream One MUST focus on the Prize whatever that may be , in Whatever avenue that may be in life be it Sport work life , home life ,THE Dream of being a millionare , opening your own Business (what ever That may be) , to helping the starving Children of the World or right down to getting the everyday Mundane Stuff done each day ! The Fact is Remain Focused ,Passionate , have your EYE on the Prize and believe you can and just like the Tiger You will. The Eye Of A Tiger is FOCUSED on it's Prize ,It is Hungry ,it is Passionate about what he wants And He believes he will get what he wants, Anyway having said all that i have recently in the last couple of weeks downloaded that song on to My Phone and made it My Alarm Tone to wake me in the morning
Purely for inspiration and a reminder to Remain Focused and passionate about what I WANT each day and for the rest of my life the Song is very energizing and Uplifting OH yeah Bring on The EYE of the TIGER
  • Rob from Terre Haute, InI'm amazed this song is still so p[opular. Am I the only one who thinks its extremely cheesy?
  • Geo from Johor, Malaysiaeveryone can be a jock after playing this song!! gold medal for Olympic.. survivor!!
  • Bertrand from Paris, FranceThis Chicago-area mainstream power rock band known mostly for its ballads always had a knack for delivering among the most bombastic lyrics of the decade. But with this song, featured prominently and appropriately in the film Rocky III, Survivor brought fist-pumping arena rock to an entirely new plane of soaring bravado. The somewhat silly overuse of metaphor and cliche is sometimes a little offputting, but the hold of the melody and power-chord opening is undeniable.
  • Matthew from Milford, MaI have to disagree with Miles. Burning Heart rocks, too. Anyways, I found some major irony in Rocky Balboa, as Rocky actually owns a deli, just like in Weird Al's song... However, I prefer the actual "Eye of the Tiger" song to Weird Al's version. I'm not sure which song I like better, "Eye of the Tiger" or "Burning Heart". "Eye of the Tiger" is definitely the better "pump up" song, but I can identify a lot of myself in the theme of "Burning Heart".
  • Bill from Kansas City, KsDude Eye of the tiger is the best song like ever sereously

  • Jesus from Bethlahem, Israelrocky loses a fight to clubba lang and he needs to train so he listens to eye of the tiger, drinks some eggs and he is ready to meet his destiny and beat clubba.

  • Elliot from St. Louis, MoIt's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight, Risin' up to the challenge of our rival and the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night and his fortune must always be eye of the tiger
  • David Lindsay from Dunedin, New ZealandTo me this song relates to all challenges in life. Wether it's sport or other important aspects of your life. I remember thinking of this song before a recent exam and it killed away all nerves and tension.
  • Kieran from D.c., Vagreen day does a cover of this, billie joe sounds a little drunk while singing it too

  • Dan from Winthrop, MaMr Peterik also supplied the vocal in the Real Men of Genius campaign for Bud Light.
  • Dee from Indianapolis, InThis was IT back in the day. What a tune!! I always wanted to hear it played and would listen to the radio until it was on. It was my 1st intro to Survivor and this is their anthem by far. They actually put out alot of great tunes, but this is what got them noticed, and will always be a staple as a sports song and pumping you up.
  • James from Sarasota, FlThis was, is, and always will the number one pump up anthem of all time. Period.
