  • I've just seen a face
I can't forget the time or place
    Where we just met
She's just the girl for me
And I want all the world to see
    We've met, mm-mm-mm-m'mm-mm

    Had it been another day
I might have looked the other way
And I'd have never been aware
But as it is I'll dream of her
    Tonight, di-di-di-di'n'di

    Fallin', yes, I am fallin'
    And she keeps callin'
    Me back again

    I have never known
The like of this, I've been alone
    And I have missed things
    And kept out of sight
But other girls were never quite
    Like this, di-di-di-di'n'di

    Fallin', yes, I am fallin'
    And she keeps callin'
    Me back again

    (Yeah)
    (Bup-a-lup-bup)

    Fallin', yes, I am fallin'
    And she keeps callin'
    Me back again

    I've just seen a face
I can't forget the time or place
    Where we just met
She's just the girl for me
And I want all the world to see
    We've met, mm-mm-mm-di-di-di

    Fallin', yes, I am fallin'
    And she keeps callin'
    Me back again

    Fallin', yes, I am fallin'
    And she keeps callin'
    Me back again

Oh, fallin', yes, I am fallin'
    And she keeps callin'
Me back again Writer/s: John Lennon, Paul McCartney

  • Jennifur Sun from RamonaForgot have much fun this song is. Love the guitar work.
  • Rick from Brick, NjThis song was recorded on the same day in June '65 as several other McCartney classics "Yesterday" and "I'm Down". He showed his range....Folk--Pop & Rock 'n Roll Not a bad day of for a just turned 23 year old artist!

  • Carl from Apg, MdI notice 2 comments referring to false start(s). That would be for "I'm Looking Through You" (on Rubber Soul in both U.S. and UK), and NOT for "I've Just Seen A Face".
  • Megan from Stevenson, AlI absolutely love this song! Love the lyrics and the way Paul sings this! WONDERFUL!!!
  • Carl from Apg, MdThe song is among the non-soundtrack songs on the British "Help!" album (notice that the only Beatles' songs on the U.S. "Help!" album are the 7 from the movie), but it and "I't's Only Love" were included on the U.S. "Rubber Soul" album, lending it a more folk-music feel than the British "Rubber Soul".
On top of that, "I've Just Seen a Face" is the leadoff song on side 1 of U.S. "Rubber Soul" album. It was presumably the U.S. version of "Rubber Soul" which Brian Wilson came across and which influenced him enroute to the completion of the Pet Sounds album.
  • Breanna from Henderson, NvThis is an amazing song! I love how it works in Across the Universe, but doesn't make the original seem so much better or so much worse. It's an amazing masterpiece, especaly seeing as they wrote it without the aid of cirtain "friends" also known as drugs. Increadable song, I love it.
  • Reese from Carroll, Beninthe movie Across The Universe is amazingg i dont know why any one thinks its not good and the story line is really good too
  • Riley from Adelaide, AustraliaAcross The Universe Movie Was okay but They Should of Done A Different Story line Anyway Great Song
  • Julian from Pottstown, PaI have been a Beatles fan since the beginning. Being 55 years old, I certainly remember them and the evolution of their music. I believe they were the most talented and versatile group ever. Having said that, I would like to comment on Across the Universe, a movie I have watched minimally 25 times. Obviously I love the movie. I think that it would have been pointless to get a bunch of Beatles sound-alikes to remake songs that they wouldn't be able to imitate in their original form. On the other hand, I feel that the way that they did change up the songs was pure genius. The actors were charming, most of them had great voices, and the story was certainly not difficult to follow. It was not disjointed and in no way portrayed the Beatles as simply a group known only for their drug-induced days.
  • Hayley from Edmonton, Cayman IslandsI have to agree that Across the Universe was a terrible movie. I've Just Seen a Face may have been the only song in the movie that wasn't remade horribly. The plot was twisted to fit the vast subjects of the songs and made no sense at all. It led the viewer to beieve that the entire Beatles legacy was a drug induced accident. For those who didn't know the Beatles before wathcing it, that impression sticks and the Beatles get so little credit for the brilliance they deserve.
  • Amanda from Evansville, Ini doesnt matter if the movie sucked(across the universe) i personally loved it. my point is if you are a hardcore beatles fan you love that movie just because of the music
  • Dogbert from Rio De Janeiro, BrazilThis is the first emo song ever.

No, srly, try playing it with distorted guitars keeping up with the fast tempo.

The Beatles f***ing invented emo... along with progressive rock, ballad rock, hard rock, heavy metal, etc, etc, etc...
  • Brad from Lexington, KyI agree. Across the Universe was a stupid movie with bad actors, cheesy Beatles references (lead characters were "Jude" and "Lucy"), a terribly written and tacked on plot, bad acting, and terrible cover versions of classic songs. You know the filmakers are desperate when they write a scene with Bono dancing around a bus singing "I Am the Walrus". That was even more disturbing than the original film clip from "Magical Mystery Tour". All in all, it was just a bad excuse to make a lot of money by exploiting the popularity of the Beatles and the quality of their music.
  • Michael from Gloucester, VaI love the beatles.... but personally, i did not like across the universe at all. i think somebody just decided to exploit the beatles' genius for money. the story is poorly conveyed and the original songs are WAY better. i think ill stick to the original recordings and original beatles movies thank you very much
  • Theresa from Murfreesboro, TnThe perfect rock/pop song.
  • Ty from Phillipston, Mai was fooling around with a sound software and slowed this song down a bit and it sounds really great that way(not that its not great this way)
  • Chloe from St. Louis, Mogreat song. it fits the lyrics perfectly-the way paul sings makes him sound like, like a previous comment said, a giddy teenager in love. always puts me in a good mood. :-)
  • Jason from Pittsburgh, Pathe b-side to you've got to hide your love away released on green wax I believe? An underrated Paul masterpiece. A near perfect 7". Genius.
  • Dane from Vancouver, BcPaul wrote the final draft of this song with the intention of making a blue grass sounding tune. I think he accomplished it while still retaining an awesome pop sound. Brilliant tune. Cheers.
  • Olivia from Chicago, IlI love this song and the scene that goes with it on Across The Universe is just great.
  • Tay from San Diego, Cait always makes me happy. i loved it in the movie! :)
  • Julia from *, OhThis is definitely in my top 5 favorite Beatles songs, it puts me in the best mood ever! And Kayla, what you said about Jude from "Across the Universe" looking like Paul? In the newspaper it said that he was based on the McCartney-like charm, and I think some of his facial expressions and mannerisms are like Paul's in this movie 'cause he's based on him. Smart director!
  • Kayla from Nashville, TnI really love this song! also the scene with this song in it in Across The Universe. is it just me or does the guy that plays Jude look like Paul McCartney?!
  • Emily from Langhorne, Paoh my gosh... this song was in across the universe (AMAZING movie, btw) and the scene was awesome!!!! it was in a bowling ally and all the lights were changing colors and stuff and its really good!!! even if your not that big of a beatles fan, Across the Universe is a beautifully done movie and this just might be one of the best scenes!
  • Tony from Red Deer, AbGreat guitar work in this song. I also love the way the rhymes in the lyrics almost fall in a random, non-structured, way. Pure genius.
  • Mike from Woodland Hills, CaThis song was recorded the same day the Beatles recorded "Yesterday" and "I'm Down". Can you imagine? Recording three different songs, all written by Paul McCartney, and in different styles!
  • Bianca Sanchez from Alburquerque, NmI Love how fast Paul sings this!
  • Tony from New York, NyOne of their best five songs. It shows genius in its simplicity and optimism. To refute two previous comments: It is far from unexceptional. The guitar solo was not dreadful. It was accoustic, simple and to the point.
  • Rosanna from New York, NyIt just so amazing.
There's a version of this song on the "Across the Universe" soundtrack that isn't half bad, either.
  • Sal from Bardonia , NyWho said the Byrds or Bob Dylan invented folk rock the Byrds became rock band because the Beatles success with folk with rock which Roger McGuinn gives them credit for. This song guitars are all acoustic with a mix of folk and country done at bluegrass pace. One of most influenced bluegrass songs with rock according to All Music Guide.

  • Sara from Nashville, TnI like this song because it's fast. I am often misunderstood because I talk so fast, but I never really notice, only my parents ask me to slow down. But when I am feeling extremely energetic, this song isn't fast enough and I go to the tempo settings on my mp3 player and kick it up to as fast as it will go!
  • Grady from Calgary, CanadaThe guitar at the beginning of this song is so recognizable...Genius.
  • Sam from Provo, Uti love the solo, its so awesome! great song, beatles rock!
  • Johnny from Los Angeles, CaI agree, Will, Robert, Kelly and Joe (interesting fact, too). I doubt it, Steve, why would Bob care? Bob was the one who got them into marijuana and into a more pyschadellic phase of music. Nessie and Ashley, just enjoy it. It's just a little piece of music that wasn't so deep and didn't try to be so thought-provoking. Just like Joe said.
  • Steve from Fenton, MoI wonder if Bob Dylan felt insecure when John and/or Paul would do a Dylan styled song with better melodies and singing than Dylan?
  • Meredith from Mechanicsburg, Pano question my favorite paul song.
  • Kelly from Burbank, CaI love this off Help!, although I've never heard anyone mention it (thus qualifying it as "underrated", but whatever, any Beatles song not discussed is considered to be so). An upbeat folk rock sound, and the lyrics are sung quick until he gets to "falling, yes I'm falling and she keeps calling-- me back again", which is an interesting change. I love it. I like the humming, or "scat" I think it's called, on this number as well. Paul was (is) good at that.
  • Sarah from Pittsburgh, PaI love this song. If you listen to it, it sounds like he's rambling on like a giddy teenager in love. And the harmonies are great! Man! :)
  • Ashley from Yarmouth, CanadaI think this song sounds like a Simon and Garfunkel song. I think its peachy.
  • Joe from Vancouver, CanadaCBC (canadian broadcasting corporation) did a poll earlier this year on what canadian's favourite songs or the most important songs of the century or something like that and this song was #1 on the list.
  • Joe from Vancouver, CanadaNessie, I think you're looking way too hard at this song. It's just a wonderful song.
  • Lee from Clearwater, FlI met a girl only briefly, and that song was on my mind. Every time I hear it I think of her, and that was many many years ago.
  • Bill from Southeastern Part Of, FlThe two false starts are from the song I'm Looking Through You from the U.S. version of the album Rubber Soul. The song I've Just Seen A Face is from the British release of Help!
  • Laura from Lakeville, MnI love this song. Its in my top two favorite Paul sngs, and top five beatles songs
  • Robert from Jönköping, SwedenOne of the most cheerful songs I have ever heard and another example of The Beatles incredible versatility.
  • Nessie from Sapporo, JapanA lovely song, but unexceptional except for the engergy they put into it and the great opening arpegiations. The middle lead guitar is dreadful.
  • Christopher from Greenfield Center, NyThe copy of "Rubber Soul" with the two false starts is the american version of the LP. Everyone who bought the LP in the US has that copy. Sorry It's not a "blooper" album.
  • Will from Roswell, GaThis is one of the underrated Beatles songs. It is definatley one of my favorites.
  • Annabelle from Alliston, CanadaAn irresistable folk rock gem!
  • Ken from Lancaster, PaI once owned a copy of "Rubber Soul" that included two or three false starts to this song. Wonder what that "blooper" album (vinyl) would be worth now?
