  • I see you standing in the alleys and the hallways
(Wait a second) you're gone now
I run to touch you but you vanish through the doorways
    And oh, how
Hard it is to live without you
    I love everything about you
Now I know you're really gone
But my imagination is so strong
That I see you coming into view
And your face is telling me that you
Oh yeah oh, want to be by my side
Oh yeah oh, now it's finally time
    (Wait a second)

Mirage, that's all you are to me
    Mirage, something I only see

So I keep walking through the alleys and the hallways
    (Where are you?)
I keep remembering the kissing in the doorways
    The car too
How it all comes back to me
    The movies every Saturday
The place we used to go to eat
I want so much to have it like it used to be
That I see you coming into view
And your face is telling me that you
Oh yeah oh, want to be by my side
Oh yeah oh, now it's finally time
    (Here it comes again)

Mirage, that's all you are to me
    Mirage, something I only see

Just a mirage, that's all you are to me
Just a mirage, something that I only see
Just a mirage, that's all you are to me
Just a mirage, something that I only see Writer/s: Ritchie Cordell

  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn April 23rd 1967, "Mirage" by Tommy James and the Shondells entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #69; and on June 11th it peaked at #10 (for 1 week) and also spent 10 weeks on the Top 100...
Between 1966 and 1970 the group had nineteen Top 100 records, with seven making the Top 10 and two reaching #1; "Hanky Panky" (for 2 weeks in 1966) and "Crimson and Clover" (for 2 weeks in 1969)...
"Crystal Blue Persuasion" just missed making #1; it peaked at #2 (for 3 weeks) in 1969 and the three weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for those 3 weeks was "In the Year 2525" by Zager and Evans.
  • Charlie from Binghamton, NyMost of the Oldies stations are stuck in a rut playing the same 500 oldies over & over & over. They just play only the "Safe" songs and skip many good oldies artists..... Example... When was the last time you heard a Bobby Goldsboro song???
  • Scott from Palm Desert, CaI love this song. It is similar to "I think were alone now" but different. I love the singing.
  • Frank from Westminster, ScWhat a great song. I don't know why even the oldies stations never seem to play it anymore. I think the really dumb bubblegum music during this era swept away much of the good pop music the same way that the really wretched disco music swept away decent tunes of that era.
  • Keith from Slc, UtThere seems to be a hint of the theme from STAR TREK in there. The timing is right.
