  • World turns black and white
    Pictures in an empty room
    Your love starts fallin down
    Better change your tun, yeah
    Reach for the golden ring
    Reach for the sky
    Baby just spread your wings

    We'll get higher and higher
    Straight up we'll climb
    We'll get higher and higher
    Leave it all behind

    Run, run, run away
Like a train runnin off the track
Got the truth gets left behind
    Falls between the cracks
    Standing on broken dreams
    Never losin' sight, ah
    Spread your wings

    We'll get higher and higher
    Straight up we'll climb
    We'll get higher and higher
    Leave it all behind

So baby dry your eyes, save all
    The tears you've cried
Oh that's what dreams are made of
'Cause we belong in a world that must be strong
Oh that's what dreams are made of

    We'll get higher and higher
    Straight up we'll climb
Higher and higher leave it all behind
Oh we'll higher and higher who knows
    What we'll find

So baby dry your eyes, save all
    The tears you've cried
Oh that's what dreams are made of
Oh baby we belong in a world that must be strong
Oh that's what dreams are made of

And in the end on dreams we will depend
'Cause that's what love is made of Writer/s: Alex Van Halen, Edward Van Halen, Michael Anthony, Sammy Hagar

  • Brooke from Brisbane AustraliaMy favourite song.
  • Josh from TexasI'm 30 years old and I have a 4 year old daughter and she always asks me. "Hey Daddy, can we listen to my song?" This is the song she is talking about, she knows every word. I love that for her, with all the hate and bad things in the world and after a long day at work, when she asks for this song it puts me in a better place.
  • Tyler from Utahno doubt one of the best van halen songs out there. the 5150 album is by far one of the best albums van halen made and dreams is a close second best song only to summer nights
  • Kiwisareforthesoul from Trinidad And TobagoOne of the greatest from van hagar era ngl, love it alot!
  • Mrzol from Lehightown PaSummer of 86, on the radio all the time...
  • Seventhmist from 7th HeavenMy personal favorite of theirs. I've often heard it played during firework shows on the 4th of July.
  • Dan Olivero from Schaumburg, IlFinally saw Sammy here in Chicago. He played a soft, slow version of Dreams. It really accentuated the beauty and inspiration of the lyrics. Outstanding!!
  • Jenni from Tampa, FlForgive me Pat for not acknowledging what you commented before, but I agree, even though I think the Thunderbirds could it better- just an opinion from a retired fighter pilot's wife ;)
  • Todd from Scrantino, PaHere's a thought of reality... Joe Satriani did not play guitar on the song "Top Gun Anthem".
It was Steve Stevens from Billy Idol's band along with Harold Faltermeyer on piano, who also wrote and performed "Axel F" from Beverly Hills Cop.
  • William from Lynchburg, VaHere's a thought of irony... Sammy Hagar with Van Halen and doing the video for "Dreams" with the Blue Angels. Not long after this (1986) Joe Satriani does the guitar for the theme of "Top Gun"... Now Joe and Sammy are in ChickenFoot together!!!
  • Pat from Albuquerque, NmIn my opinion, this song, with the Blue Angels video, may be the best music video ever made. It just soars...
  • Geo from Altoona, PaSammy rocks...see ya in Cabo...
  • Melissa from Lorton, VaI like DLR better than Sammy Hagar, but this is a great song nonetheless.
  • Scott from Kings Park, NyThis song is a CLASSIC....one of the best "Van Hagar" songs
  • Annabelle from Chicago, IlThe acoustic version of the song kicks ass!!
  • Jay from Atlanta, GaSammy Hagars dad was a Blue Angel during the Korean conflict. He is seen at the begining of the video saluting the camera. He was also an ametuer guitarist and co-wrote the chords to this song with Eddie.
  • Joshua from Twin Cities, MnThe video for this song featured footage of the U.S. Navy's precision-flying team, the Blue Angels, whose 40th anniversary coincided with the release of this song and album.
