Goddamn you half Japanese girls You do it to me every time Oh, the redhead said you shred the cello And I'm jello, baby. But you won't talk won't look won't think of me I'm the epitome, a public enemy. Why'd you wanna go and do me like that? Come down on the street and dance with me.
I'm a lot like you so please, Hello I'm here I'm waiting. (oh) I think I'd be good for you, And you'd be good for me.
I asked you to go to the Green Day concert, You said you'd never heard of them. (How cool is that?) How cool is that? So I went to your room and read your diary. Watching Grunge leg drop New Jack through a press table, Then my heart stopped listening to Cho Cho San, Fall in love all over again.
I'm a lot like you so please, Hello I'm here I'm waiting. (oh it's crazy now) I think I'd be good for you, And you'd be good for me.
How stupid is it? I can't talk about it, I gotta sing about it, And make a record of my heart. How stupid is it, Won't you gimme a minute, Just come up to me, And say hello. (my heart)
How stupid is it? For all I know you want me too, Or maybe you just don't know what to do. Or maybe you're scared to say, I'm falling for you.
I wish I could get my head outta the sand, 'Cause I think we'd make a good team. And you would keep my fingernails clean. But that's just a stupid dream that I won't realize, 'Cause I can't even look in your eyes without shakin, And I ain't fakin, I'll bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon
I'm a lot like you so please, Hello I'm here I'm waiting. (oh waiting) I think I'd be good for you, And you'd be good for me.
I'm a lot like you. (I'm a lot like you) I'm a lot like you (I'm waitin') I think I'd be good for you and you'd be good for me. Lyrics licensed and provided by LyricFind
Karl from Ingatestone, United Kingdomi like the Green Day reference in this song because this makes Weezer bigger success in my homeland of Ingateone. as a Weezer fan for 5 years, i am going to say that this is a powerful song. i would also like to see Paul Chuckle do a version of this
Clubber Lange from Ocean Gate, NjJohnny Grunge was def not one of the craziest wrestlers in ECW...New Jack was though...
Brad from Lexington, KyI don't think you understand what you just said, Jeff from Texas. Cobain was one of the most influential songwriters not only of the 90's, but of all time. He never said his lyrics were "nonsense" and he was also one of Cuomo's biggest influences. Yes, I admit Cuomo's lyrics were usually more clever, but Cobain was first and his lyrics were heartfelt and painfully emotional, the John Lennon of his time. You can't compare him to Cuomo, because they were two completely different songwriters. If Kurt Cobain and Nirvana hadn't come first, there would have never been a Weezer. (By the way, that last line about "maybe if Rivers shot himself in the head he would get more credit" is completely disrespectful and insensitive. Suicide is nothing to joke about, especially when making a joke about a mentally depressed man who killed himself.)
Fatima from Norfolk, Va☺ Hats off to this song, best in the big Weezer collection! ☺
Jeff from Austin, TxSaying Rivers' songwriting is in "Kurt Cobain territory" is an insult to Rivers. Cobain's lyrics were self-admitted nonsense. Cuomo's lyrics are very smart, witty and always paint a very vivid picture. Maybe if Rivers shot himself in the head he would get more credit.
Eric from Barcelona, SpainI wish I could get my head out of the sand 'Cause I think we'd make a good team And you would keep my fingernails clean But that's just a stupid dream that I won't realize 'Cause I can't even look in your eyes Without shakin', and I ain't fakin' I'll bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon.
Madalyn from Greensburg, Pafavorite lyric : cause i can't even look in your eyes with out shakin and i ain't faking you bring home the turkey and i'll bring home the bacon
Musicluver from La La Land, Cathe song is about Miki Berenyi who dated former bassist Matt Sharp.
Michael from Hollywood, FlEl scorcho was actually the hottest sauce at a place called Taco Viva, which I believe started out in Florida but may not have gotten much further. A precedent to Taco Bell, this place had a host of sauces - each identified with a Mexican character - poised to show the intensity of the sauce. "El Scorcho" was the hottest.
Steve from Cedar Grove, NjGrunge was dead by 96'
Keith from Kyle, TxTwo pluses to this song: 1) I like turkey, 2) how the music changes mood/tempo at the bridge, holy moley.
Lexie from Sydney, Australiamatts backing vocals make blue and pinkerton..
Anthony from St. Clair Shores, MiProbably most peoples initial favorite the first time they listen to Pinkerton, it's kind of a departure from the seriousness of the rest of the album. I'm not a big Sharpie or anything, but Matt's backing vocals really make this song.
Chris from Andover, Mn, MnFor those who don't know of Extreme Championship Wrestling, I'll give you all a little insight. ECW was a wrestling company that existed from 1993 - 2001, They were known for having a great talent roster consisting of many different wrestling styles, from Lucha Libre, to Technical/Mat wrestling, to Brawling, to Hardcore action. The "Grunge" mentioned in the song is a man named Mike Durham, who wrestled as "Johnny Grunge", with his tag team partner, the late Ted "Rocco Rock" Petty as "Public Enemy", they were known for puting people through tables, usually with a moonsault. The "New Jack" mentioned in the song is Jerome Young, who wrestled as New Jack with his tag team partner Jamal "Mustapha Saed" Mustafa as "The Gangstas", a rival team to The Public Enemy. New Jack is known for his Hardcore style, & not for real talent. He has cut someone's forehead open with an X-Acto knife (that person has passed away, but not due to that), Jumped off balconys through tables, & even stabbed people in the ring in the name of Hardcore Wrestling.
Lexie from Sydney, AustraliaIn the beginning of the song there is a gurgle, then the words "El scorcho, rocknroll!"
This song has a few references to madame butterfly(pinkerton is losely based on Madame Butterfly anyway). Cho Cho san is a character in it.
The video clip is in a big ballroom.. lots of lights and colours etc.
Ashley from Moncton, CanadaThis song amuses me. I don't really like it, but it amuses me and makes me happy.
Zak from Philadelphia, PaFor all of River's eccentricities (living in exile, tossing out great songs like they were garbage) and quiting the band after every album he is still one of the most brilliant songwriters of our generation (im talkin Kurt Cobian territory) and none of which are more prevelent than on weezer's best album Pinkerton.
Ben from Encinitas, CaThe first guitar riff is almost identical to the riff in Crawling King Snake by The Doors.
Alyssa from Sumner, WaThis is my most favorite song ever. It captures the insecurities of angst and crushes. Ditto to what Rob said too. :)
Rob from Castaic, CaBrilliant song... The bridge reveals how outside appearence don't necessarily reflect the feelings on the inside
