  • I knew I'd stay with you after just one touch
The way you move has got me
    Stuck

Here, Jared Leto, frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars, sings of a girl who has captured his heart. From the moment he first made physical contact, he was struck by an undeniable realization: she was the one. Enchanted by her mesmerizing movements, Leto finds himself completely captivated, unable to escape the clutches of his love interest.
  • She's a ghost and the truth, it's impossible

Leto adores his sweetheart despite her less-than-ideal traits. With honesty, he acknowledges her inclination for deception in the pre-chorus, yet intriguingly, he finds himself embracing her elusive nature as an integral aspect of their overall connection.

"I wrote it from the perspective of a narrator who simply can't help himself from plunging headfirst into what will likely be a doomed romance," said Leto. "It's about knowing you need to get out but simply being unable to, whether that's from fear or comfort or confusion, hence being 'Stuck.'"
  • Leto co-wrote the powerful, high-energy track with songwriters John Ryan, Jacob Kasher and Ammar Malik. Ryan, Kasher and Malik previously teamed up with Adam Levine to pen several of Maroon 5's hit songs, including "Don't Wanna Know" and "Wait."

Leto, Ryan and Malik produced the track. 30 Seconds to Mars drummer Shannon Leto and Oscar Neidhardt are also acknowledged as co-producers.
  • Thirty Seconds to Mars released "Stuck" as the lead single from It's the End of the World but It's a Beautiful Day on May 8, 2023. It's the band's first music in five years, since their 2018 album America.
  • Leto originally created the song during the pandemic lockdown. "I'm gonna steal that and then take it with me," he told BBC Radio 1's Clara Amfo. "That's a good way to describe it. It's so we wanted a song to come back with a lot of optimism and energy. It was exciting working on this song for the past few years. It was born into the days of COVID and really is just about kind of breaking free and celebrating life."
  • The visually striking music video for "Stuck" is a blend of high fashion and art. The visual, which Leto directed himself, draws inspiration from the human form and creates a sleek and minimalist aesthetic.

Leto is grateful for his mother's influence in fostering his love for art and photography from an early age. The clip serves as an homage to influential photographers who left a profound impact on him, including Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Diane Arbus, and Herb Ritts. These artists opened his eyes to new perspectives and endless possibilities.
  • The video serves as a companion piece to 30 Seconds Of Mars' visual for their 2013 track, "Up In The Air."

"The video for 'Stuck' celebrates the realms of art, design, fashion, and the extraordinary individuals who bring them to life," said Leto. "It encapsulates the power of movement and connection, showcasing the awe-inspiring potential of those who don't conform to societal norms, making the world all the more captivating."
