Songfacts®:

  • Although its light melody gives the impression this is a whimsical song, "Made Of Money" is anything but. In his autobiography, Adam Ant said it was addressed to his wife Eve "who'd made a silly demand for a divorce settlement earlier in the year."

His first wife was actually Carol Mills, but when Stuart Goddard changed his name to Adam, what else could she become?

This union of Adam and Eve didn't last long; they married in 1975 and divorced shortly. In 1997, Ant remarried but after the birth of his daughter, Lily, he divorced again.
  • "Made Of Money" was co-written with Marco Pirroni, and, running to 3 minutes 28 seconds, is the third track on Side 2 of Friend Or Foe. >>
