Bright Lights

Album: Blood on the Bricks (1991)

Songfacts®:

  • This is not the first song to use the phrase "bright lights, big city," but it is certainly the meanest. Although Nova co-wrote most of Blood On The Bricks with his American clone Bon Jovi, the last track, running to 6 minutes 20 seconds is a solo effort, but the influence shows. This is - or should have been - a rock anthem about chasing the dream, but like Nova himself it didn't quite make the A List. Catch the wind and ride...to Heaven? Well, almost. A "shouted chorus" as one critic put it, together with some nice keyboard work complement Nova's frantic lead guitar. >>
