This dance pop ditty is the second single by American singer-songwriter and actress Alexis Jordan, from her debut self-titled album. The single was released in the United Kingdom on February 20, 2011.
The song was penned by Norwegian production and writing team, Stargate, who were also responsible for Alexis's debut hit, "Happiness."
The song finds Alexis singing, "I know I can be a good girl / but I've been bad before." She told Seventeen Magazine: "'Good Girl,' has the message that no one's perfect. Like, I can be a good girl. I have made mistakes in the past but I want to better myself."
ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson conceived "Dancing Queen" as a dance song with the working title "Boogaloo," drawing inspiration from the 1974 George McCrae disco hit "Rock Your Baby." Their manager Stig Anderson came up with the title "Dancing Queen."
