Anastacia wrote this song about the end of her marriage to her former bodyguard Wayne Newton. "It's totally about the loss of my marriage, but it's a beautiful song," she told The Daily Mail. "I think I lost a bit of myself for a while. My career got so busy I'd be thinking: 'Who the hell am I?' I probably hadn't taken enough time out after I had my first cancer. I was probably fighting and proving I could get through it. I probably got through it too fast. I used to believe in happy-ever-afters. Now, I have a bit more of a realistic approach."
The song "Sadeness" by Enigma (the one with the chanting monks), got its name from the French novelist Marquis de Sade, who believed sex had to be painful in order to be pleasurable - thus the word "sadism."
"It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" was inspired by a dream where Michael Stipe conjured up images of people with the initials L.B.: Lester Bangs, Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Leonard Bernstein.
