  • Twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle founded Architects in Brighton, UK in 2004. Initially called Counting the Days, they soon landed on the name Architects and began shaping a sound that fused metalcore, technical metal, and progressive metalcore. Their early records were chaotic and mathcore-influenced, brimming with intricate riffs and ferocious energy, before evolving into a more melodic and expansive style.
  • They released their debut album, Nightmares, in 2006.
  • In 2013, the band self-released a documentary, One Hundred Days: The Story of Architects Almost World Tour, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at their life on the road.
  • Lead guitarist and primary songwriter Tom Searle passed away on August 20, 2016, aged 28 following a three-year battle with melanoma. "Doomsday," where Dan Searle addresses the loss of his brother, was voted Kerrang's Song of the Year in 2017.
  • After the death of Tom Searle, Architects forged ahead, reaching a career milestone in 2021 with For Those That Wish to Exist, which became their first UK #1 album.
  • The band shares a collective commitment to veganism, a lifestyle they adopted in 2015. Vocalist Sam Carter explained their stance with characteristic passion: "It's crazy that two of you go into a supermarket and select food, but one of you is deemed mad for being vegan and caring about animals, and the other one is just normal," he reflected to Viva!. "I often think if people didn't have supermarkets and actually had to kill their food themselves, the world would be 90% vegetarian!"
  • Carter's advocacy extends beyond veganism - he's also an ambassador for the marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd.
