Songfacts®:

  • This was released as the second single from Holy Hell, an album that documents the band's grief in the wake of the death of guitarist Tom Searle in August 2016 from skin cancer. This song finds Architects lyricist Dan Searle reflecting on the state of humanity and how we need to face up to issues rather than pretend they don't exist.

    Are you listening?
    You may not have noticed
We have totally lost our way
Are you lost in the clouds?

The loss of Tom impacted his twin brother Dan Searle, harder than anyone. He admitted to The Independent that he struggled to cope. "Coupled with this strong feeling, when I was in the depths of grief, that we can all do better than this," Dan added. "It's very easy to sleepwalk your way through life. We need to believe in ourselves a little bit more."
