Songfacts®:

  • This is a song of passionate devotion and commitment. In a 1983 radio interview, keyboardist Geoff Downes said, "'Don't Cry' was the last song we wrote for the album. We actually wrote it in a bit of a hurry, because we felt we didn't have the right track to kick the album off with. I had an idea, John [Wetton] had another idea, and we cemented them together."
  • Vocalist John Wetton has recorded a solo acoustic guitar version of this song. It appears on his 1996 album Akustika: Live in Amerika.
  • The B-side, "Daylight", did not appear on the Alpha LP, but did appear on a special "6x12" cassette, and on the CD. >>

  • Esskayess from Dallas, TxHuge letdown after the great songs on the title album. Beats me why I bought its album.
  • Liquid Len from Ottawa, CanadaThis song is pretty rancid and wussy compared to the songs off their first album. Could say the same about the whole album Alpha. Their record company ruined this band.
