Songfacts®:

  • The lead single from At Best Cuckold, frontman Avi Zahner-Isenbergis wrote the song after learning a guitar tuning from a musician named Emperor X (real name Chad Matheny). He explained to The Guardian: "The song is about life, getting up every day and living it, and wanting to find love. Chad's music is really, really impressive and very good, such are the tunings and instruments he invents!"
  • Asked by NME about the cryptic 'At Best Cuckold' album title, Zahner-Isenberg replied: "Oh, there's no meaning. It's definitely a phonetic thing. It came to me in a train station and I thought it had a cool ring, so I trusted my gut with it."
