Songfacts®:

  • Axl Rose's first new song since Guns N' Roses' 2008 Chinese Democracy album, "Rock the Rock" was written for the TV show New Looney Tunes, which airs on the Boomerang streaming service.
  • The Guns N' Roses frontman's song was featured on an episode titled "Armageddon Outta Here, Part Two," which premiered on December 24, 2018. In the episode, an animated version of Rose stumbles across the Looney Tunes characters. Bugs Bunny and co. tell the singer there is a giant asteroid heading towards earth, and propose to him that he uses the power of rock to destroy the asteroid before it can land. With the Looney Tunes gang serving as his backing band, Rose proceeds to perform "Rock The Rock", ultimately blowing up the asteroid and saving the planet.
  • The song was written by:

Joshua Fun. A one-time lead singer/guitarist in a band called Park: A Rock Band, Funk, he started working with the world-famous comedy troupe, The Second City, in 1994. As well as The New Looney Tunes, he has also composed music for Comedy Central's Key & Peele, Wabbit, Scooby Doo: Shaggy's Showdown, Teachers and NBC's Red Nose Day.

Rob Janas. A writer and director, Janas has penned multiple episodes of The New Looney Tunes.
  • Rose is known to be a fan of Looney Tunes. Guns N' Roses used the original show's iconic theme song as intro music during their 2016-2018 Not in This Lifetime reunion tour.
